Cliff Holden

Cliff Holden

I’ve just received the sad news that club member, Cliff Holden, has passed away. Cliff was a regular on the Wednesday Wrinklies rides up until recently, and had recently bought an electric bike so that he could keep on riding. He was making good progress following a series of operations and had even had a […]

Hello Club!

Whilst we’re all doing our own things, solo riding, socially distancing as a small group, or not riding at all, it’s always good to look forward in these changing times. WVCC is still here, still waiting patiently, and ready to unleash activities when safe to do so. At this stage, we remain cautious, but shortly, […]

WVCC COVID-19 Update

Following previous posts, and recent statements from national cycling organisations, including British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials, Cycling UK and Audax UK, it is important that the committee make a statement about a club approach during the coming months. Ahead of a committee meeting that we’ll be holding in on 7th July, we will not be […]

COVID-19 Update

Given that the government announced changes and some relaxation to rules about time spent outdoors, this is just an update with regard to WVCC activities and cycling in general. There are still NO club activities. NO group rides, NO time trials, NO road or circuit racing until such time as we announce it. Do not […]

Welcome, to the real world…

Okay, so we can’t go out and play, but we do need exercise, and playing our part in not spreading COVID-19 any further than our own sheds seemed to be the thing to do. We are advised that we can exercise outside, but for most of us, a quick jog around the park doesn’t really […]

Social Distancing – ONLY ride s...

This is a quick message to urge all cyclists, not just club members, to only ride solo whilst you are out on your bikes for the forseeable future. Only go out once a day, and avoid all contact with others (2 metre rule). We’ve seen an appalling lack of compliance to advice given thus far […]

COVID-19 WVCC Response

*IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ* For members of WVCC: COVID-19 – our response. As a committee, we recognise that we must support the government in their efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19. As such, from hereon in, we are suspending our Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday rides, and Tuesday evening social meetings at WPRFC. It’s not […]

Scones, comfy slippers and Llanberis ...

A far better outlook than last greeted those at the club. The sun even poked it’s nose out briefly. Still, Jim took no chances, equipping the broom wagon with snorkel, goggles and flippers. Just in case like…. The black swans in the pond in Hoofield Lane were impressed. Llanberis can be a smiling assassin, and […]

Llanberis 2020 – The routes

For the riders all set for the weekend, here are the routes for both days! They are GPX files for you to download to your bike GPS units. To download on a PC, right click on each of the links below and select Save Link As or Save Target As, and choose where you want […]

Club Dinner 2020

..and here we are in a new decade, and back to the social event you have all been looking forward to! Our club dinner is on Saturday 1st February 2020 at 19:00. This year we’re at the Winnington Park Recreation Club, and it’ll be a great evening with the usual chance to socialise whilst we’re washed […]

WVCC Cyclo-cross 2020

Well, it was certainly a cool day, with a harsh chilling wind to start, and dry-ish conditions, albeit heavy going for the riders. The biggest entertainment, and certainly the most technical part of the course, which favoured the faster and fitter, was a small and unassuming little chicane, up a gentle slope. By the time […]

Clocks go back this weekend 27th Oct!

https://clipartxtras.com/download/a17f5a16218c2d79b95f3a48e3e5b175b756e207.html

It’s that time of year again – so don’t forget this Sunday morning now will you? At 02:00 on the 27th October (early Sunday morning when you are fast asleep), the clocks will go back an hour! This is probably fine if you use a smart phone or computer as they’ll probably set themselves. Best […]

As a club, we’d like to wish Andrew Simpson @simmo_on_sport all the best for the future, with a heartfelt thanks for supporting WVCC all these years....
