Far from the wet and wind, Wednesday brought a breeze and some clear watery sunshine for the traditional Wrinklies Christmas Dinner run. Those of us in our youth (me especially), were not worried by taking a day off and trying to lower the average age a bit. We met at Hatchmere, and took off in […]

Clocks change this weekend!!!
Don’t forget now will you? At 02:00 on the 30th October (early Sunday morning when you are fast asleep), the clocks will go back an hour! This is probably fine if you use a smart phone or computer as they’ll probably set themselves. Best to check though! You really don’t want to turn up an […]
The no-photo, no-sliced bread, no eggs, ...
Not as fast or feisty as the long run, today’s ride was to got to the Candle Factory at Burwardsley. I didn’t count how many of us there were, but around 20 of us remained for the short ride at the club as the long ride departed. It was a fine day for a ride. […]
WVCC Cat & Fiddle Hill Climb 2016
Nice day for a hill climb. The sun was out, the wind was light, and riders gathered early, eager to sign on and get prepared for the ride. Even from the start riders, it looked to be a reasonably fast day, and there was an air of competitive spirit that saw the faster riders battle […]
Helpers required – WVCC Hill Climb 2016
Our Club Championship & open hill climb event is fast approaching, and, as race organiser, I need YOU, the club members to give me hand with running it. There is no club run this Sunday, so – club members – if you aren’t busy, or on holiday(!), I’d really appreciate your help. I don’t need everybody, […]
It’s not all about the cake.. sometimes
The weekend weather forecast just seemed to improve as the week progressed, and Sunday morning saw it only slightly overcast, but a pleasant temperature and little wind. The Wild Wales posse were already on their way as the few that were left met at the club. There weren’t many there, but what we lacked in […]
The Guardian Cup 2016 & The Final Fling
So, who won? Well, if you have been following the results trend over the last few weeks, you’ll have seen that Dave Wilkinson has been improving steadily over the year, enabling him to maximise his points. By last week, only Rich Munro could get near. This was not to be though, as Dave did enough, […]
WVCC Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 10 –
It was a drizzly night, yet 15 intrepid riders came out, with some to see if they could improve their overall placings in the Guardian Cup. In reach of the trophy were series leader Dave Wilkinson, and Rich Munro – in grabbing distance of the prize. This is where the drama started, as Rich had […]
WVCC Open 25 Mile Time Trial – 6th Augus
Bright sunshine, a strong field and a healthy number of club volunteers meant that this looked like it would be a good, and potentially fast day. As the day started, and the first results came in, we weren’t waiting long till Lee Winslow of Wills Wheels CC stormed over the line with a 59:03, but soon followed […]
WVCC Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 9 – 3
A massively windy, gusty night only brought 11 entrants to this evening’s 10, and with time running out in the Guardian Cup series, there was a feeling of ‘nothing to lose, everything to gain’ with the determined faces at the start line. Some riders will have benefited from the tail wind on parts of the […]
WVCC Club 25 – 2016 Championship 25 – 27
A bright and cool night greeted the riders competing for the glory of the Club 25. Spirits were high, and the Lee appeared(!) Everyone knew that they were racing for 2nd place. 🙂 A slight headwind along Penny’s Lane would mean that times would be gained on the fast run along the A530 – King […]
WVCC Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 8 – 2
Well, here we are, a week after major traffic jams and club championships settled, back to the long game of Guardian Cup points, fast times, and a more subtle battle than last year as we complete round 8. The night was a good one, with some great times and many a PB set. Fast seasoned […]
