By Alistair Stanway. Inspired by a man half my age after his superb ride in the 100 yesterday I travelled to South Wales today to have a crack at the fast R25/3H course for the Port Talbot CC 25. Keen to see what we could knock out and hunting a 25 PB. According to the […]

It’s Hot for Cross!
It’s only the 8th of September, and we’re already complete for round 1 and 2 of the North West Cyclocross Association League, with an excellent turn out by Weaver Valley! Having had my CX debut last year in freezing conditions in a snow blizzard, 2019 round 1 and 2 have been positively barmy in comparison […]
Withington Wheelers 10TT – J2/3
We’re steadily heading toward the end of the road racing and time trialling season, and today’s 10TT by Withington Wheelers was a late add on after an event was cancelled with bad weather (I think!) earlier in the year. For the last J course 10 of the season, the entrants were Sam Taylor, Lynsey Astles, […]
A Long Time In The Saddle
Number 16 30 seconds 10 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO, good luck. Does this sound familiar? Of course it does you know how a time trial works by now. But this wasn’t the start of it all for me. It was way back at Oulton Park talking to Adrian Japp and Dave Fearon about […]
Titch’s debut 12hr TT
When you journey thru the distances of TT’ing, it is usual to do it in a progressive manner, spending a few years riding 50’s, and 100’s before venturing into the realms of a 12hour TT.. However, Titch turned the convention book on its head by only riding 10’s, a couple of 25’s and just one […]
Final Fling – 14th August 2019
Thanks to the riders who turned up for our final club 10 of the season. There were some notable rides on the night. Andy Milligan and Paul Longley have been producing some great rides this year and finally they got a win with a tie for first place with 23:13. Titch now has to take […]
Club records 2019 – the story so far
As per Ady’s post on Facebook, it’s better for the club’s records if we blog results so that they’re in chronological and easier to find. With this in mind, here’s a record of the club champ results so far this year, with only the 12hr and hill climb left this season… 10 mile champs – […]
Club 10’s – 7th August 2019 – Final Cou
So the cup competitions are all over bar the shouting. 16 people turned up to try and make a difference and as is the tradition I won’t publish the Guardian Cup and Scratch Cup final standings as they will be announced at the post Final Fling social in the Crown at Lower Peover next Wednesday. […]
Club 10 – Round 9 – 24th July 2019
Cracking evening yesterday with lots of sunshine resulting in plenty of PB’s. A special mention to our Carol (Robson not Kirkwood):), who demolished her PB from 28:22 to 27:03!!! I think the club needs to order an EPO test kit and an X-Ray machine for next season as some of these improvements are amazing. Only […]
Club 10’s- 17th July 2019
A night for the riders with waterproof skin tonight! 16 brave souls turned up and actually despite the rain it was pretty quick with several PB’s. Winner with a 22:00 was Dave Walker but there was a gaggle of 23’s after that with a very in form Titch taking second place with a PB 23:12. […]
Club 100 mile champs – 14th July 2019 –
Just some words from me following Emily’s excellent blog yesterday. It has been a quite a few years since we had 4 entrants in the 100 champs and having 3 novices including one lady entrant is even more unusual. All 4 riders stepped up to the distance and took it on bravely. 100 miles at […]
SCCA 100TT
The 4am alarm rang this morning and I think Sam and I were too nervous about falling asleep to even consider a snooze, so up we got, dragged ourselves into some clothes, made some coffee and got on the road; leaving the poor dog mystified as to what the hell was going on. The last […]
