Another good night with a slight amount of rain but nothing to dampen the spirits. Our humble club 10’s are attracting some quality riders these days with Olympic champions and pros last week and this week Simon Bridge, a regular winner in time trials and road races in the Manchester Area and recently moved to […]

Guardian Cup – Points after 3 rounds
Ahead of tonight’s TT (only just!!), here are the results after 3 Guardian Cup rounds. Of note is Paul Connor, who gained another clutch of points this last week to launch him into 1st place overall, but also new member Clare Hargreaves, who bagged maximum points last week by shaving off 106 seconds from her […]
Anfield 100 – 29th May 2017
First of all, I would like to apologise to Dave Fearon, I used to complain about the length of his reports, and now I am just as bad, if not probably worse! I am even in danger of boring myself, let alone you lot!!😩 In preparation for this ride, having never ridden the Anfield 100 […]
Club 10’s – Guardian Cup Round 3 – 24th
A warm sunny evening with a light breeze brought a large field out for a Wednesday 10. A mix of club members battling for Guardian Cup points, and non-members out for their time against the clock. Fastest time of the evening was that of our own Matt Nowell, now pro rider with Bike Channel Canyon […]
Guardian Cup – Points after 2 rounds
Ahead of round 3 tomorrow, here are the standings thus far. Still early days, but early improved rides from Ben Jones and Paul Connor mean that they are at the top of the table in positions 1 and 2 respectively, with Dave Fearon also showing early season form. All to play for though, and plenty […]
Stone Wheelers 25 – 20th May 2017
This is the fastest course in the Manchester District on the A50 at Blythe Bridge. It is also very likely that this will the last event on this road for a few seasons if not ever, as major road-works over the coming years will prevent racing. So the event was massively over subscribed and the […]
Club 10’s – Guardian Cup Round 2 – 17th
Another good night after the light rain of the afternoon with little wind and some good times recorded. Not quite as fast as last week but no complaints apart from the usual excuses. Jim Duffy showed his blistering form with a near PB for club 10’s of 22:42 but his PB was set on a much […]
M&DTTA 25 Championship – 13th May 2017
Today was the Manchester District 25 mile championship and as has been the trend this season to date, it was massively oversubscribed with getting on for 200 entries for 120 places. Fortunately the event was a preference to Manchester DC riders so all of the returned entries were people from other areas. Weaver Valley had […]
Club 10’s – Guardian Cup Round 1 – 10th
Last night saw the start of the Season long club 10’s and this Year the format of the series has changed slightly. Previously the series was a handicap competition with points gained in each riders’ 5 best rides counting towards their final score in the Guardian Cup. However there are 10 rounds in total so […]
Dukinfield CC 50 – 6th May 2017
This first 50 of the Year in Cheshire has an amazing history. It has been held every Year since 1928 and the Dukinfield Cyclists’ Club which is one of the oldest clubs in Britain was already 43 years old that year. That first event was won by W.Ward of the Stretford Wheelers with a time […]
WVCC Club 10s – Practice 10 – 3rd May 20
Wow was it windy tonight!! A tough night for all, with an unusual head wind off the start and indeed all the way to Toft and the turn back into Middlewich Road for the last 3.something miles! Tonight was about a solo practice and for setting a handicap time for this year’s 10s (unless you […]
M&DLCA & East Lancs RC 10’s – 29th April
Due to popular demand (from Jim Duffy as he hates writing reports), I am posting my first TT report of the Year. Jim posted the others because this year I started racing much later than usual due to various holidays and annoying things like work getting in the way of my cycling. The afternoon started […]
