All the ladies… and a few bloke...

All the ladies… and a few blokes too.. Short run to the Mills

After a sunny Saturday, I changed the TBA to the Mills. Lack of imagination, maybe, but a great destination on an August Sunday. I turned up at the club to already find a couple of lady club members, and soon there were more, until they were five strong, lined up and looking determined. There were […]

Alan Kemp in Cambodia

Fantastic day today at a rural Cambodian village with the fantastic team at Tuc tuc theatre. Managed to power the whole film for the village youngsters via the rear wheel turning the alternator to supply the power to the wide screen and sound system . Unbelievably hot on a sit up and beg bike having […]

WVCC Open 25 Mile Time Trial – Saturday 8th August 2015

The first WVCC open 25 for some years took place today on the J4/8 course. A healthy field of 64 riders started, and made their way against some tough conditions, especially along Kings Street into a cross headwind. Nonetheless, Darren Maironis of Coveryourcar.co.uk RT, brought home 1st place overall with an impressive 53:41, ahead of […]

Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 9 – 5th August 2015 – and overall positions

It really couldn’t get more exciting, or close, in the race for the Guardian Cup 2015. During round 9, we saw another 3 PBs from Andy, Colin and Matt (who has jumped into this for the first time this year and seems to go from strength to strength each week). There were only 10 contenders […]

WVCC Open 25 mile TT – Saturday 8th August 2015 – helpers required

Hi All, A really important post. We’re less than a week away from the first open 25 mile TT that we’ve run in quite a few years. Chris Gilbertson has been working hard to get this off the ground, but in order to make this event a success, we need your help. We need at […]

Club Championship 25 – Results

Club Championship 25 – Results

Thanks to all who turned out to marshal and to Al and Syd for timekeeping and pushing off [the banter at the start was appreciated] We had another course switch due to traffic lights that appeared today, we used a course that Dave Fearon measured a couple of weeks back that is 2.5 times around […]

Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 8...

Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 8 – 22nd July 2015 – and overall positions

This week it really is getting exciting, with Matt putting in a great time and creeping closer to Jim’s top score, Lee smashing the course record pretty much every week, and Jim going slower than the amazing 24:49 of last week. Jim Duffy also pitched up to TT this week and smashed it with a […]

Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 7...

Club 10s – Guardian Cup Round 7 – 15th July 2015 – and overall positions

With a breeze that seemed (at least to me) to offer little assistance, and on the road as though it might be a head wind in every direction, most of the field improved on their times. Jim especially excelled himself by going sub 25 for the first time in 25 years! After round 7, Jim has […]

Ferry Across the Mersey Ride 2015

Ferry Across the Mersey Ride 2015

The weather looked okay for today, with some variable reports of rain and the like at varying times of the day! A good sized group met at the swing bridge and two more joined us in Runcorn to make 17 as we took the usual route through Runcorn, over the bridge to Widnes, and then […]

Club 10s – Club 10 Mile TT Championship – 8th July 2015

A fast night for many, but none as fast as Lee Suthard, who just smashed it to clinch the 2015 Club 10 Championship. 2nd was Iain Young and 3rd Dave Fearon, and 3rd, whilst coming up in 4th, well on form this year – Craig Lee. Results in the table below. * Non-club members do not […]

Audlem RR – Big Bunch Sprint

Audlem RR – Big Bunch Sprint

Last night saw the third race in a series of four at Audlem, with Jim Duffyand Gerard Lacey flying the flag for WVCC as Alan Kemp was a DNS due to a bad back i believe and Ewart Howkins Marshalling. The race was switched to the shorter circuit due to road works on the usual […]

The race to Tatton – the return...

The race to Tatton – the return of the beginners ride…

The forecast looked good, with only a slight chance of showers, so the planned beginners ride was on. At 9:45, Al and I rode to the empty car park at the legion and patiently waited, pondering what might or might not be. We didn’t wait long before the first arrived and introduced themselves. Clearly we […]

EMILY WINS AT TAMESIDE!!!!!... both went to the Tameside crit event tonight... 7 ladies entered mixture of cat 2-4. Emily did her fair share on the front. Jumped off a couple of times but the group did pull back. Emily won the prime at lap 10. Group stayed together until 2 laps when Emily jumped and stayed away to take the win!! As for me I am awful at cornering as expected... lost everyone after every corner then managed to get back on. Finished a miserable 4th but great experience and at least I now know what to work on over winter.... 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️ Emily Jane Martin ... ’Expand’’Hide’

Hi, I am interested in coming to cycle with you, is there a beginners group or one that isn’t quite as fast to gauge what ability I am at and if I am quick enough at all. I can do about 30 miles comfortably but would like to join a club to improve my pace. ... ’Expand’’Hide’

I know what an Altruistic bunch some of you are, and I have benefited from this. As my kit rail will testify. However I’m looking for cold hard cash for the following items.

- Michelin pro 4 service course.
700 x 25
Too wide for my Dave Lloyd, lots of wear left.
£25 the pair.

- Campagnolo Khamsin front wheel, smooth and true. (No QR skewer). Wear holes still visible.
£20
