A very windy night produced some surprisingly good times on Wednesday. Regulars will know that a strong wind directly behind on Penny’s Lane is a good sign as you get a 2 mile kick start followed by mostly cross winds, with very little head wind. We had a few first time riders and all went […]

Club 10 – 2-up – 25th April 2018
Wednesday saw the start of our popular club 10’s on the Lach Dennis course. The weather was cool with showers scudding across the skies but fortunately skirting around the course on either side. 18 riders supported the event, some riding solo and others as pairs. The winning pair was Steve Malkin & Paul Connor […]
To 25 or not to 25…. that is the (Within
Not to 25 as it turned out. The Withington Wheelers 25 was, at the last minute, shortened to a 10, due to roadworks at the Ollerton crossroads, complete with temporary traffic lights. Nevertheless, a TT was held, and we had 2 of our riders out today. Andy Milligan, who consistently batters out excellent times, was opening […]
Fifty miler TT
Finally found some time to write a blog about my fifty miler TT at the weekend… So, in an effort to keep my much loved ladies BAR trophy I knew I needed to complete a 50 this year – a distance I always dread because it feels like a forever sat in a TT position. […]
West Cheshire TTCA 12 hr – Club Champs –
Pop on the kettle as this could be a long one! This year the annual local 12 hour and our club championship attracted just one entrant from the WVCC, as is often the case in this challenging event. Alistair Stanway was 2nd counter in the team record breaking trio last Year and this year he […]
WVCC Guardian Cup & Scratch Trophy 2017
Well, a tougher night than we’ve had in a few weeks greeted the riders who were contesting the Final Fling, the overall Scratch, and most importantly, the Guardian Cup. Before this last round, Paul Connor found himself leading by a single point ahead of Tony Booth. tonight, it was an all out battle to improve […]
Guardian Cup and Scratch points after Ro...
It couldn’t get more exciting with just 1 round to go in this year’s club time trial championships. The Guardian Cup is now hotly contested, with Paul Connor now only 1 point ahead of Tony Booth after spending most of the season way ahead. But, as more riders get to riding the maximum of 7 […]
Club 10 – Round 10 – 9th August 2017
Another small entry for the club 10 last night. Please make an effort to turn up for the Final Fling next Wednesday as it’s your last opportunity to ride a club 10 this season plus this year it counts towards the points due to an earlier round being cancelled due to road works. Whether you’re […]

Following a bit of a delay over summer, here are the updated points tables for the 2 competitions that we have running this year over our club 10 mile time trial series. Firstly, the Guardian Cup. We have 2 scoring rounds left this year. After round 9, Paul Connor has stretched out a nice lead […]
Club 25 Mile Championship – 2nd August 2
Firstly thanks to Jimmy Williams for drumming up help for marshalling and laying out the safety signs for the event. Also thanks to the marshalls who stood on the corners and Ann and Graham all standing in the rain for just a hand full of riders. We only had 8 riders and one of those […]
Guardian Cup – Round 9 – 26th July 2017
Sorry for the late report, doing stuff. Emily was the talk of the town this round with a first ever 25 minute 10 after trying for quite some time and stopping the clock in 25:44. Get some open events entered Emily whilst the form is good. Jim was quickest on the night with a 22:32. […]
Guardian Cup Round 8 – 19th July 2017
The threatening thunderstorms held off so the brave few who turned up actually enjoyed quite a good night. Also it hammered is down after the event so everybody went home happy. Jim Duffy put out another good ride but most excited finisher was Alison who beat 2 people tonight and well and truly rubbed Dave […]
