Audlem RR Series Event 1 (of 4)

Audlem is lucky to have 2 road race circuits that comply with the rules, however, last weeks event was cancelled as both had road works on, so tonight’s event became the first on the series of 4. Condidtions were dry with a bit of a breeze, it was initially quite cool considering we are now […]

Nova CC & M&DLCA 25 – 9th July 2016

Caroline & I were the only WVCC starters in this promotion which saw two races, the Nova for the men and the Manchester & District Ladies event for the women.  My old friends Ian and Mavis Ross from my former club the Nova were the organisers and we always make an effort to ride this […]

WVCC Club 10s – Guardian Cup Ro...

Well, we are well into the last half of this year’s competition, and this week there were some good times steady times set. Lee romped home with the fastest time, as he does every time he turns up – unless Matt Nowell pays a visit of course, and after an on course incident, where Strava […]

Team Swift 10 , 6th July 2016

Carl Ruebotham said ” you need to get over and ride the V718 mate it’s really fast”  “not fast enough for an Open Event, and too fast for the slowest riders event” says I…. But,  I decided that if you want to win the lottery, you have start off with a a couple of […]

Club 100 Mile Championship (Closest E...

I write this lengthy (sorry), report with a mixture of emotions due to the bizarre set of circumstances that transpired on the day of the M&DTTA Open 100 mile champs.  At this point I should mention that I was also the organiser of the race as well as a participant. The conditions were excellent as […]

Two Mills Club Run – A case of ...

What a difference a few days makes in weather terms. As I rolled up at the club, I already felt overdressed with arm warmers on, so peeled them off at stuffed them into my saddlebag. The clear and warm weather brought plenty out, and two runs were set on their respective journeys, with Paul navigating […]

Lift up – plummet down.

Lift up – plummet down.

On the face of it there’s not a lot to report about a day out at Antur Stiniog. You arrive, chuck your bike on a trailer, ride to the top of a hill in a minibus, tear-arse down to the bottom and repeat, (x15) until it’s time to go home. Or you are broken. Or […]

WVCC Club 10s – Guardian Cup Ro...

After a rainy day, it looks like the few riders that took to the course picked a break in an otherwise wet and windy day. Some times meant big things this evening though, as Dave Fearon romped ahead to clinch the fastest time of the evening, followed by a pre-washed Jim from the Mersey Ferry […]

I left the house without my rain jacket on, and within 6 feet, put it on as it started to rain. Well, we were warned, but nevertheless, a baker’s dozen gathered at the swing bridge with the skies delivering the promise of precipitation already. We thus set off promptly from Sutton Weaver, knowing that we […]

Emily tries out her new ttoy…

A TT report by Emily…. Due to a few other time trials going on at the weekend, there was a very low Weaver Valley contingent in the East Lancs 25 mile TT round the J2/9 on Saturday. The rain was predicted to finish at 2pm, which would have been perfect for the start time; however […]

Otley CC 50 – The No Gaffa Tape...

Many of you will remember Dave Fearon’s epic ride a couple of years ago when he had to Gaffa tape his trainers to his pedals as he forgot his shoes, well this was the same event. As many of you know, I am no stranger to getting up early, but when the alarm went off […]

BDCA 50 – 25th July 2016

BDCA 50 – 25th July 2016

Today was my first ride this Year in a top class field as this event is traditionally the most difficult one to get into because of the fast course on the A50 at Etwall.  True to form all 80 entrants had faster last 3 season times than a 1:54 and nearly as many entries were […]

Many of you will know that Mark Adshead had a big off yesterday. He was taken to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool [the NW Chest injury centre] were he remains.
He has a multiple fractured collarbone, Multiple fractured ribs and yesterday had a punctured lung. I have spoken to his wife earlier and she reports that he is as well as can be expected but obviously has to deal with the pain and discomfort he has. But he is in the right place.. I will pass on any messages to his wife.
