Wed 23rd June: Wrinklie Run to Wrexham – thanks to Claire for this report..
A group of 16 riders rode to Chester on a hot, sunny day. We took the route used by the Countess of Chester Hospital Midnight walk down Dee Banks and Sandy Lane into Handbridge. Having crossed over the stretch of water where the swim took place in the Deva Triathlon on 6th June, we then followed the triathlon bike route through Eccleston, Pulford and Rossett. When we detoured around the foot of Marford Hill, a couple of us were flagging, and were glad not to be going up to Gresford. The relaxed lunch stop was a Garden Centre between Borras and Holt, and the service was excellent, with free coffee refills. With great timing, we were joined by Dave Astles. The route back took us to the picturesque river crossing at Farndon, and to the charming hamlet of Coddington, along a route that that I last took on a freezing day in early February when there were snowdrops under the trees. Thank you to the riders who gave me a push or a wheel to follow, or gave me words of encouragement when I had to dig deep! Thank you also to Jed for leading a really interesting and enjoyable run.
