Cheers titch, so the camera isnt broke then! any movie footage of todays ride? it was a great ride, well attended
Jim, luckily the camera was in it's waterproof housing which took all the battering and the camera's ok. the ride was a good one and definitely like you say well attended and i suspect the blog from el could be a long one.
here's another picture to wet your appetite. see if i can't cobble some sort of video together

What a great ride - thanks Jules et Jim!

Great blog els, Chris Buckley also made it to the cafe, which called Polocini in Romiley, and a fine cafe it was. Also, in my defence, the detour was Kris Zentek's fault as we were avoiding a dirt track on his route 😆
Great company today, good to see such a good turn out on a long run, welcome back Carol, you will soon be upto speed again 😀
I finished with 88 miles and 5200ft climbing
I went out for a quick 3 hour spin on Sunday afternoon and went past Tattenhall Ice cream farm at one point, expecting to see somebody from Weaver Valley as it's our adopted second club room (although Jules would argue that the Mills holds this position)!
Sure enough out came Jed on his super fast yellow missile. I rode along side for a couple of minutes but had to press on as I was doing a tempo ride to a power setting and Jed asked, "How fast is tempo". "About 22 - 23 mph", I replied and then I pressed on. At the end of the lane I turned left and there was a tail wind so my speed went up to 26 mph for the same power output (270 watts .... yawn). I could sense Jed sitting comfortably behind me and the next minute he went past me like I was standing still. I'm guessing he was doing 33 mph as he left me for dust. He also told me before hand that he had been shopping in Chester so his yellow submarine was a bit on the heavy side.
However in the words of Jed "you can't beat science" and unfortunately for him gravity trumps aerodynamics every time so when the hill just before Beeston loomed he graciously pulled over to give me some kind words of encouragement.
Nice riding Jed and I love this sport / pastime because there are so many aspects to it and there are so many great characters also. Keep on enjoying life on wheels under the your own power as it's so rewarding and satisfying.
Cheers
Dave
Thanks Dave. I must say that I really enjoyed our brief encounter and it brightened up my ride. I felt slightly 'impish' after we spoke when I decided to tail you but the temptation was irresistible. You're a good 'sport'!
All the best on Thursday.
Real men hike up rivers, ain't that right Chris, Carol, Tony!
I want past the short run on the road between Withington and Goostery. You lot looked like you were motoring - like a sky train led peloton reeling in the break!

It was a great route Kris. Just need to plan a better one home next time. Good cafe as well
That day was just unreal kris I felt for a minute we were mountaineering up a waterfall somewhere in South America with 20kgs on my back! which was never going to end! then I came back down to earth and realised we were near Macclesfield some where? but got to admit there are rides, which stick out in your mind and make you laugh to yourself when you think about them from time to time. And that was certainly one of them!
Ps just to confirm what jules said very good cafe and I thought for a small cafe the service was excellent! So great route and great cafe! Kris
PPS. Thanks to jules and jim for doing the leading as its never an easy job.
