A surprisingly eventful run to Two Mills today - read all about it on https://www.weavervalleycc.org.uk/blog/
Please post entries to the caption competition here - normal rules re decency apply or Ady will have to put on his "I'm a strict moderator" hat.
As usual Els, fantastic blog, i actually passed you all twice today on my training ride with the guys from work for our charity bike ride from Manchester to Cardiff. I let onto Titch and waved to Elaine, but not sure they recognised me due to the kit i was wearing ❗ , i passed you coming out of Kingsley and along the river, both going in the opposite direction.
With regards to the caption comp - all you have to do is twist this and your average speed increases, you then be able to complete the TT quicker than Dave
Anyone who would like to know more about our charity bike ride, please see the following facebook page, please like our page and feel free to sponsor us - please 😀

Eleanor I love reading your blogs, they are so funny 😆
I went for a little potter on a "proper" bike today and felt ok, so all being well I should be joining you all next week, it's been far too long!! 😎

Smashing, it will be great to see you 😀
That's great news carol it's been a long time - so be good to see you back! missed your banter!
Tony
Thanks guys, missed you all too!!! 😀
Carol who?
Great blog Eleanor. I know I got a bit of stick on Derek's blog for shadowing him on an Audax (it was only for 135 miles) and my reputation is in tatters but to say I came past in Delemere when I turned off at Ashton has really got me worried.
Enjoyed the ride today. Good company, as always, some fun banter and an extra-long rest while Titch set the record for the longest time to fix a puncture.

Looks to me like Derek's getting paranoid about looking for his shadow.

Good point, which masked the evil truth.
I stayed quietly in Dave Daynes' wheel, whilst he shadowed Eleanor. Dave claimed to be 'gasping' when I came past him, and asked El if she was going to sprint for 2nd. As we wound it up, out pops 'gasping'Dave', accelerating away, with 300 mile trained Majorcan legs, to an easy 2nd. A sprint bettered only in the past by 'Sneaky Al'.
Top marks to Titch though for the long Kristian House type escape for 1st.
Oops yes it was Dave not Sid, a slip of the pen, in the interests of accuracy I will edit the blog when I come home from work tonight!
If you're going to alter your blog may I suggest that we spare Terry's blushes. It was me that had the coming-together with the mountain biker, it happened as the group compacted as we were overtaking him. As he lost control and fell, Terry, who was directly behind him, had to take evasive action and that's how he ended up off the track.
As an afterthought, I'm beginning to wonder about the safety of our riders (and others users) on the Greenway. I've witnessed at least three falls by club members on the track in a relatively short space of time - fortunately, none serious. It was quite busy on Sunday, however, I think we need to think about how we ride it safely in large groups. This is not meant as judgement on any of my fellow club members - I'm just expressing a point of view.
I am beginning to think that sid is a liability, if it can go wrong, it probably will. 😆
On a serious note though. I do agree with Sid in relation to how we ride a group along this stretch, as I mentioned earlier, I did pass you all on alongside the river, you were going pretty fast and it was a large group riding 2 a breast, there was nit much room left si it does leave much margin for error for any other users not paying attention.
How about a massive burn up down the switchback road on the way out instead of on the way back, but keep it going all the way to Chester and that way the club will be only riding in one's and two's when they get to the Greenway. 😈 The faster ones can then get to the Mills sooner and leave before the rest so the others can have a nice gentle potter back through the forest. The Warrington Road Club have been riding like this for years and they don't have problems with big groups of riders, as nobody stays with the club for long enough to make up a big group.
P.S. If any of our Warrington friends are looking in .... sorry I'm only joking!
Great Blog and I must of missed you all on the Greenway coming back from Rhuddlan on Sunday. It was far better Saturday evening going down as there was no one on it 😎
Thanks Sid for straightening the records and here's another small correction - the hill we went up in Frodsham was Overton Hill and was used many times in the clubs early road race promotions. Mersey View climbs from the Bulls Head pub up to the leisure club (once known as the Mersey View night club) this gains the same height but is steeper, particularly at the top. Leigh Premier RC used it for their open hillclimb using Cliff Royal's garage as the HQ.
