It was wet. On and off, sometimes a bit wet, sometimes a lot wet.

Setting up as we start to relax back into life as near as normal, the sign-on was under a gazebo just to the left of the village hall, nice and sheltered under the trees. This’ll be dry enough.

Alas, before the end of the event, it was very much not dry enough, as a large and persistent heavy shower put the shelter to the test, which it duly failed.

The race consisted of 2 events, and M&DLCA event, with 3 starters, and the WVCC event with 25 entrants. Numbers down (as with many TTs as things start up again) from previous years, but nevertheless, it was cooler, making it easier to breathe for the riders, so it promised to be a reasonably quick day.

The ladies romped round the course, with the winner being Claire Harrison with a 1:03:52, followed by Katherine Swithenbank – 1:05:36 and Michelle Fairclough with 1:06:58.

The men’s event started off fast. Before the first lady arrived, number 10, our own Sam Taylor, romped across the line with a 53:38! Then, bettered by a mere 6 seconds, number 15, Steve Fidler shot across the finish line with 53:32!

Just after all three ladies had completed the event, we already had our winner, as Matt Gibson, number 20, took over 3 minutes from the previous lads with a straight 50:00!

No-on e could challenge them for the rest of the event, with the next being Adrian Hughes and Richard Shaw of Seamons CC, and both with 55s.

A wet day, with some great times. Thanks to the organiser Chris Gilbertson, for making sure this all went ahead today, and that everyone was safe.

Thanks also to the WVCC volunteers, for standing as marshals and helpers, in the on-and-off wind and rain!
