For the final time from me, before I hand over to Derek, I would like to thank the timekeepers (Jimmy and Tony) and the members of the Weaver Valley CC who have helped to develop this event over the years.

An event is nothing without its riders and I would like to thank all 154 of you who entered this year and made the day such a success in difficult windy conditions.

I would also like to congratulate all the prize winners, in particular Peter Greenwood who this year graduated into the 60+ category and set a new event record for that category of 23:55.0.

It was also a great pleasure to see so many familiar faces again, many of whom have been supporting this event since its inception in 1998.

With the exception of Peter, it wasn’t a day for breaking course event records, so I hope you will all return next year for another go, and give Derek the same support and kind words of encouragement that I have received from you all over the years.

Before this turns into an Oscar Winning speech, I would just like to wish you all safe cycling and see you next year (but I’ll be in lycra as well!!!)
