A great club run – instead of splitting into a longer and shorter group, we all stayed together to ride to Two Mills, and we had well over 20 riders at the cafe. The ride there was VERY WET! We were on the new Chester Greenway when the clouds opened and Garry very sensibly suggested a cape stop – unfortunately some of us were too busy trying to keep up to stop. At some point Kev put the hammer down, and at this point we did end up splitting into two groups. The forecast had not suggested rain, so no-one had mudguards, and the uncaped amongst us arrived at the cafe looking like very dirty drowned rats.

The ride back was more civilised in terms of both weather and pace. The obligatory Forest race was interesting, with Carol going to the front, producing an intriguing reaction – our chaps won’t let someone who rides a bike with pink bits go past lightly! So they set up the chase and I gather young Matt won (as he had done the sprint to the cafe) with Kev in second. We then rode back altogether (with a puncture stop in Norley which provided a nice opportunity for a bit of sunbathing).

Great to see so many riders out, including new and old, fast and less fast, all enjoying a good pace and staying together without difficulty.
