We are holding a sponsored indoor Cycle challenge on Saturday 6th July at Mid Cheshire College Hartford Campus and are looking for teams of 4 people to undertake the challenge. The idea is that each team will compete against others on static Watt exercise bikes in the safe, secure, weather proof, hill free, (possibly lycra free?!) definitely traffic free environment of the College Hall. The event providers TEAMcyles (www.teamcycles.net) are a professional events company and have the equipment and technology to measure performance and outcomes, individual male and female winners and team winners, as well as providing the right sound to encourage performance at the level needed and the vision to encourage you. The aim is to feel like you are actually in the peloton with footage from last years stages and hopefully a live link with this years actual coverage.
The challenge is aimed at being doable but not dangerous or so onerous you have to devote every waking hour to train for it. It is open to anyone of high school age and above, with a minimum inside leg measurement of 65cm (to fit the adjustable bikes).
We do need a quick turnround on this as although we have a lot of interest expressed verbally we do have to confirm and book the bikes in advance, so we need entries signed up in the next week or two before we part with money to confirm the bookings. If you think you may be able to get a team together please let us know asap – if you would like to take part personally but are unable to raise a full team we are keeping a list of individuals to make a scratch team if required. It is the sponsorship that makes the difference to us. The more sponsorship we can raise, the more we will be able to help families with a child with very low immunity e.g.through cancer, by providing short breaks to enable the families to rediscover their bonds and spend some time together, and supporting them practically and emotionally through the fear, stress and isolation such a diagnosis brings. The Joshua Tree Holiday House and Support Centre will provide a hub for the families to visit and source support and empathy at a time of great stress and into their uncertain future, as well as continuing to campaign for recognition of the specific problems the families face and change to support this.
Please help us to help the families. Thank you for your support.
