Reading Time: < 1 minute

Alan warned me it would be fast and it was! Apparently there were a lot of good riders out. An interesting format tonight, where the over 55s were set off 2 minutes ahead of the under 55s and it was a handicap race. I managed to stay with my lot – just – then the young ‘uns caught us on the 5th lap at which point everything speeded up significantly – I was hanging on for grim death but the elastic snapped just after the last corner on the last lap. Alan was in a breakaway but they didn’t organise themselves as well as he would have liked, and got caught by the main bunch on the back straight of the last lap. Alan competed for the sprint and I gather did well (6th or 7th I think?) Nick, Kev and Andy Newby did well too, coming in in that order. I did 24.9 av mph and 32 miles – one of the hardest races I’ve done so far, a good proportion of it was flat out in top gear, there was very little sitting up tonight. Posted by Eleanor
