Here we are with PC Neil Wharmby, helping us to protect our bikes!

Thanks to PC Neil Wharmby and Northwich Police, for kicking of this initiative with WVCC, helping us to protect our bikes with ImmobiTag!

According the the ImmobiTag web site – see www.immobitag.com – there is a bike stolen every 71 seconds in the UK. That’s a lot of bikes, and the pride and joy of many a cyclist. Insurance often doesn’t cover everything, and most of us love our bikes and would much prefer to have them returned to us in the event of them being recovered after theft.

What better way then, to uniquely identify and register your bike, to you, for free!

Well, the Police are also keen to a) combat bike theft, and b) re-unite bikes with their owners if recovered, and thus they have teamed up with us to promote this initiative, and on Sunday, came down to our home to give out some ImmobiTags (which I’m sure by now will be fitted to all of our bikes!).

It’s great to see our local Police force reach out to the cyclist to help us in the prevention of crime.

ImmobiTag is a free service (once you have one of the devices), doesn’t rely on subscriptions, and links to Immobilise, the UK national property register and all UK police forces, and to CheckMEND, the national second-hand trade stolen property database.

If you’ve not heard about this before, get yourselves over to the ImmobiTag web site!
