This photo was taken during a very long cow stop on the way home from Loggerheads. But we were all bushed, so the stop (for about 1001 cows all walking very slowly) was very welcome.
This was one of the best club runs I’ve done, with a baker’s dozen making it to the cafe – Vince, Kev C, Kev U, Keith, Chris, Julian, Jack, Martin, Dylan, Jed, Ian, Karl and me. (Craig and Chris L peeled off on the way there.) It was a long and hilly route but despite a mix of fitness, age and experience, we all stayed together all the way there and all the way back, which is exactly how club runs should be – and a great day we had of it: good riding, beautiful quiet country roads and good chats (at least on the flat bits!) We rode out via the route we normally do on the Llanberis weekend, (Chester, Higher Kinnerton, Penyffordd and the big hill up from Pontblyddyn), but then taking a right at Rhydtalog onto a fabulous 5 mile descent towards the cafe. On the way back Ian turned right at the Rainbow and introduced us onto lovely (but undulating, with lots of gratuitous height gains and losses) minor roads and eventually (after some navigational debates and reference to GPS) back down to the welcome flatness of the Cheshire plain, and so home via Holt, Tattenhall and Tarporley. We got back at 4.45 and I had 96 miles and an average speed of 16.4mph on my computer, which wasn’t bad going considering all the hills. Thanks to everyone for a great ride and great company, and a mention in dispatches to Dylan who shows incredible stamina, speed and strength for a 14 year old.
There was quite a crowd at the British Legion this morning – one group rode to Summertrees, I don’t know how they got on, maybe someone will post a comment or a thread on the forum. Once again, it was great to see so many new riders getting stuck in. (Carol how did it go?!)

An excellent report Eleanor. This was certainly one of the best club rides this year. Great company, nice views and a respectable mileage too.

Well the short ride ended up going to Galley at Nantwich in the end. Probably one of my favourite rides to date this year with lots of chat and a nice easy pace on the way there (sounds like we all had a good run, although I think I may have struggled on the longer run!). Carol did fantastic for her first run out and she'll be back again in a couple of weeks.
Great cafe at Galley by the way!
