Another excellent weekend. Well done and thank you to Graham and Ann for organising and providing transport and en route support – to Steve for driving and for his enthusiastic encouragement – and to Dave Hinde for providing a big black van and much-appreciated mechanical assistance.
Kev and I had a great ride out and back with no major incidents, and for most of the way we felt strong.
Best bits:
- The endless descent from the top of the Sportsman into Betws y Coed, on day one
- Catching a group then going over the top of the forest on day two, with a spectacular and fast descent into Ruthin
- Watching the club’s five teenagers doing so well: well done James, Dylan, Matt, Jack and Connor (and they look good at pool, too) – and well done to their Dads for trying to keep up with them!
- Admiration for Dave Fearon who rode the whole thing on a fixed 78″ gear (speaking as someone who spent most of the weekend in my 32″ granny ring) – he might be crazy, but he’s also clearly very fit
- Noting that John Conboy has stepped up a league since his last Llanberis trip – first WVCC rider into the hotel we gather, and clearly mixing it with the best of them – well done John!
- For me, seeing another female rider complete the ride in both directions – well done Anna, great riding girl – and come and join us on a few club runs, you’ll have a great time!
- A neat innovation at the craft centre at Ruthin on day two – we got to use their education room, with soup, sandwiches, tea and cake laid out ready for us: saving the usual delays
- That warm feeling now after a bath, a sleep and a few cups of tea – and a nice glow of tiredness and achievement.
Hi everyone, would just like to say a huge well done to you all for making it to llanberis and back again! especially our up and coming stars – Jack, Connor, James, Dylan and Matt and not forgetting our two heroines – Eleanor and Anna, a special well done to Anna for keeping going showing true determination. Thanks to Graham and Ann for organising a great trip as usual, we really enjoyed the weekend and I felt very guilty being in the car and watching you all battle against the rain and wind. I would have loved to have ridden some of the way but I have to put my boys first!! Caroline.
+1 to all of the comments. Brilliantly organised, amazing support, fantastic turnout, and all back safe and sound
