As I'll be looking for a winter bike over the next couple of weeks (so that I don't have to a) crud-up my Bianchi, or b) rub the paint away with crud-catchers etc(!), or c) cover everybody in spray, making me very unpopular...), I was wondering if anyone had experience of the Ribble Audax/Winter training bikes?
They seem to have a good spec for a good price, and reports that I've read all sound okay thus far.
Any thoughts?
I'm a big fan of Ribble - used to be one of my local bike shops and over the years I've had several of their frames - always amazing value and well finished. My current best bike is their Sportive carbon - I got the frame last winter and it rides really well and is amazing value, so they're still turning out good kit.
The guys are very helpful, either phone or email and from their website a complete winter bike is really good value. If you need a winter bike I'd be happy with one of theirs. You can also arrange to collect - their warehouse is just off the M6/M65 junction.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll take a trip up for a look. I've been messing round with their entertaining 'bike builder' on the web site. Good fun, and a great distraction(!)
Cheers

Thanks ofr the tip! I'll pop there first!
i got the l'etape sport and its a great bike for the price - i paid 650 for mine about 6 months ago so if woodies price info is correct then get down there whilst the sale is still on, at least to check it out
I'll be going to have a look at the l'Etape anyway, but out of curiosity, and as a winter bike, can it take 'proper' mudguards?
I've got an etape and have the MK2 CRUD guards on which work really well. Few of us using them on Sunday(v wet)and they worked fine. I sat behind Kris for while and no spray.
Yeah but be warned, you fit them and you still get grief off Kris and Jules..."ooo Woody I was covered by a little sprinkle of water off your bike". Unbelieveable! 😛
They were incorrectly fitted!!! 😆
Oops. Started something now eh? A bit of autumn tension...
😆 I forgot to stick me fluffy bits on so it was waving about a bit!
