Thanks for all those involved in organising or helping this weekend. Special Thank You to Graham and Ann.
My first Llanberis weekend and one that I won't forget. Sadly couldn't ride back today due to a knee injury. The ride out on Saturday was fanatastic, even though I did the last 26 miles on my own.
Cannot wait until next year already.
A great weekend! If you're interested, I've posted a blog report on

Well done everyone and thank you to those who made it possible, particularly Graham and Ann.
It would be great to hear everyone's stories, tell us how it was for you!
Great report Eleanor and well done on a fantastic performance over the weekend - you looked very strong, particularly in the Forest on the way back.
Also thanks again to Graham for all the organisation, and Anne, Steve and Dave Hinde for all the backup support.
Thanks to Jon for being a great room mate and well done on getting to the hotel before anyone else from WVCC.
What a weekend!
Rain, headwinds and a brutal ride over the moors to Pentrefoelas left me feeling dead!
A great evening at the hotel with good food and more importantly, a comfy bed for the night, left me at least with a good night's sleep, if not good legs for today.
Many thanks to Graham, Anne, Steve, Dave Hinde for the backup! Especially to Graham for the lift, when I wimped out with cramp at Chester on the way back - aaaarghh!!
Awesome weekend! I have nothing but the upmost respect for everyone who completed the rides. Seeing everyone powering through the miles despite the terrain was amazing. Seeing a group of 10 battle it out on the outskirts of Chester after 150 miles I think summarised the quality of talent in the club. Great to see the juniors mix it up with everyone too!
I felt sad to not be there with you all to share the scenery and pain on the road. The miles I did do I enjoyed every minute especially today and getting over Llanberis pass. I'm working on the weight and stamina and hopefully will be more involved next year!
Thanks to Graham for organising it and Elaine, Steve and Hindey for the lifts.
To everyone - chapeau!!
Echo what everyone else said.
Many thanks to Ann and Graham for setting up a hugely successful weekend! Well organised, great support, great fun!
Lasting memory for me must be the the pain of watching Dave getting up Denbigh highstreet on his 78 fixie.
If anything personified sheer grit and determination, that would be it. My hat goes off to you for achieving such an astounding and quite frankly rediculous feat!
Cheers, and well done to everyone who participated!
Weekend stats from the computer:
Distance: 176.08 miles
Ride Time: 11:15:29
Total Ascent: 8762 ft
Total Descent: 8432 ft
Total Calories: 9065
Average Speed: 15.64 mph
Top Speed: 43.93 mph
Thanks to everyone involved for a great weekend. I'm chuffed to bits that I managed to complete the whole weekend and beat my personal best of only having ever ridden 75 miles! Not too sure whether I'll be turning into an endurance cyclist though...
Thanks again!
Anna you did just great!
And Kris a question for you..
How come you did more ascent than descent, assuming you started and finished in the same place?!
Different route on the way home
Unless he went back over sportsman then it would different
Jules - the ride took two days but was effectively one circular route: if you end up back where you started you HAVE to have gained and lost the same amount of height irrespective of the route, otherwise you'd end up in the air or underground!
Don't blame me, blame the gps satellites 🙂
Seriously though, the main reason is that most mobile gps's track intervals rather than constant measurements, and averages the two points. So if there are any climbs/descents between points they will not be taken into account. The difference is probably so big because it's over so many miles and so much time.
Probably.
Really enjoyed the weekend & gained a great sense of achievement in completing the distance. Legs have really stiffened up today!
Many thanks to Graham, Ann, Steve & Dave for the organisation and support.
Thanks also to everyone who's wheel I managed to hang onto, and particularly to Kev & Eleanor who put up with me for many miles over the two days!
And finally, thanks to everyone who kept an eye out for James over the 2 days and ensured he arrived safely in Llanberis and back home.
Looking forward to next year. 😀
Sounds as though you all had a great time. a big well done to you all. Hopefully Dan and I will make it next year!! Best get plenty of training runs in first though!!! Eleanor i do enjoy reading your blog. 😆
