You may already know that there is a charity and sponsored ride event for families at Oulton Park on Sunday 16th June. It is organised by the Vale Royal Lions. We hope they raise lots of money for their five worthy causes and other charities, and that the day is blessed with sunshine! Tony Rickels has emailed me as follows:

'Hi Claire,

Please can I ask for your help.

The event is now only 2 weeks on Sunday so we are now changing our emphasis to those who want to pay on the day rather than register and collect sponsorship.

The Speed Demons over two hours from 8am to 10am could be particularly attractive to your members, costing £10 each for as long as they want in the two hour period.
We would be prepared to reduce this to £7 each if 10 or more of them would come.'

This is an earlier email:

'All net proceeds from the event will be equally divided between St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice, NeuroMuscular Centre, Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, NW Air Ambulance and Vale Royal Lions for local charities.

Whilst we could not proceed with a formal cycle race, your club members may be interested in the ‘Speed Demons’ session from 8am to 10am when they can cycle as fast as they can around the 2.7 mile track as many times as they wish in the two hours.   This will only cost them £6 each to register provided they can collect a minimum of £25 sponsorship of their riding. Applications are via http://www.getonyourbike.org.uk when upon paying the registration fee, an email will be sent with a sponsorship form attached.
Alternatively, your members may wish to enter the informal ‘Cycling for All’ session from 10.30am to 5pm for the same registration and minimum sponsorship, or for an alterative arrangement if they would like to enter with their family.

Please would you see if anyone at your club would be interested in participating in this event and encourage them to go on-line to http://www.getonyourbike.org .'

We wish the Vale Royal Lions every success with this magnificent fund-raising effort! 🙂

There is no planned Club Run Sunday 16th June its a TBA day,
What's the feeling about having a 2hrs session at Oulton Park to ride around for the 1st hour and race the 2nd hour then onto the cafe may be Ice Cream farm after
It means an 07:30 start at Hartford and a fee of £10 see what you think

ye, I'm up for this Al! means we can ride with no cars for a bit, it gives people a chance to blow off the cobwebs and so on, plus were donating a bit of money to charity by doing so. win, win situation

If you are going to this, don't forget the charge is £10 for use of the track, but £7 each if there are more than 10 WVCC riders! 🙂
