There so boring you will lose the will to live ❗

I've got one of these- http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?rlz=1T4ACAW_en___GB412&q=turbo+trainer&gs_upl=0l0l0l3651lllllllllll0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=6318475687095918491&sa=X&ei=8VCAT8jfNcfNhAfks52lBw&ved=0CJUBEPMCMAE#

You need a garage or if your inside you will need a fan in front of you. You will get very hot very quickly. You could also do with a special tyre for turbo trainers. They build up a lot of heat which will damage a normal road tyre.

I've only used mine a handful of times. Would sooner go and sit on a spin bike in the gym. At least you have some company and things to look at. But they are very very boring.

I have a Tacx Satori which is fairly portable and great if I wish to warm up for a TT, ow have it anywhere else than the shed.

To relieve the boredom (as Jules correctly points out), over the last couple of winters, I've used Sufferfest videos which are cheap and downloadable, and are a really good effort based workout for use with any turbo trainer your like.

I also have (again only use it in winter), and older version of the Fortius that I bought second hand. I usuall use the Fortius, with a pre-programmed training session, and Sufferfest videos, or Tacx VR videos.

get rollers instead. just as good work out a little bit quieter and they keep you on your toes. also they can be cheeper than turbo trainers and you can jump on and off when you want. however if your new to cycling or clipless pedals best to start with ordinary shoes as its hard to find your balance on rollers. once you get going though its much more fun and you will also get the same work out but it will feel more realistic than sat on a turbo trainer where your back wheel is fixed in position. also something you should consider is if your strugling with balance on rollers there are pieces of equipment that allow you to fix your front end in place and only the back end has freedom of movement much better for times when you have plenaty of time or if your going to work hard and feel like your legs are going to fall off. im thinking of buying some rollers but going to save up so i can get the component that goes on the front to fix the front end still as when i had a go on a friends pair i found it pretty hard to balance. you can pick up a set of rollers pretty cheep to and if im honest i think rollers look better especially when you turn up to time trials warming up on them.

Thanks for all your advice guys

Claire hope you had a fab holiday? how much do you want for your rollers? text me if you like and hope to see you for a cycle ride soon. Did not get down on Sunday as busy training for my Africa challenge (only five weeks away!!!) after that its cycling, cycling, cycling, will see the wrinklies on Weds no matter what the weather is doing.

Les

The only tricky bit is getting on them 😮 once on them in a doorway can have a really good workout. Only thing is I need more energy :lol

See you in the morning
