"Nick, are you cancelling? I've just listened to the 7a.m. news and they've had to close the roads In and out of Hebden Bridge and Todmorden because of flooding". Nick's first response was to tell me he was still in bed (oops, sorry Nick!), then to say he didn't think there would be a problem because we'd be up in the hills and would be able to detour anything problematic. So, off we all went..and we managed the whole route fine...but blimey it felt like hard work! Nine hours of tough climbs, bone-rattling descents and coping with flood-damaged bridlepaths. It was all worth it though, with fantastic views across the Pennines and great company...and mostly, no rain. Thanks Nick for a fantastic day out, and thanks to everyone else for all those gates you held open for me!
