Great Blog Ady and Thanks to the Club members who turned out to help, Ady, Simon, Derek and Ian Smith ,though Ian thought the three of us had it well covered so went on his own ride.
Despite the damp start which I think kept some of our New Starters away it turned out to be a great little first ride. We had three riders two that had been with us before but one little lad that came with his dad ,Sam Beswick that stole the day with his brilliant 17m round trip to the Ice Cream farm at Great Budworth. We rode a route of back roads, cycle paths/ routes , pedestrian crossings and minor roads. Starting at the social club the route took the main rd to Greenbank down through Pignut hill over Hunts Lock then along the river path following the arches up to Vickersway Park into Victoria rd. Then a short main rd ride to the pedestrian crossing at Queensway then over to Marbury Park traffic free road. Then out through Comberbach onto Great Budworth we arrived a little early at Ice cream farm so went on a short loop towards Pickmere and back then a short wait until the cafe opened for soon well earned Tea/Coffee and cakes. The riders included Andy Beswick, son Sam and Gina Bebbington who took a few notes for the local Guardian on what the Club are aiming to do with this starter rides with a nice little interview with Sam. Our route home was a return of the same route out and the riders got back home for around 1:30, hopefully our next Starter Ride planned for late June early July the weather will be kinder to us and we get a few more new riders. From the feeling I got everyone enjoyed the easy pace ,flat route and safe way it was run, there was plenty of chatter going on while riding and I certainly felt relaxed navigating this run its great to have people around me in the club like this, so looking forward to the next one.
Thanks
Al Silver
Well done Al! Credit to the club, be sure to put details up for the next one so others can put in their diaries to help!
