Bioracer increased their prices by an average of 14% for this year, due to an increase in costs and material prices. We discussed this at a committee meeting and agreed that whilst Bioracer are a great kit supplier in terms of kit quality and service, we also need as a club to offer cheaper kit; as many do not race and are happy to wear club colours at the weekend, without needing to spend a lot of money to do so.
As you’ll be aware, our previous kit supplier was Giordana, and they have recently made changes to how they manufacture, increased their kit range and also offered us 30% off kit for 2 orders (or essentially the next 12 months). We agreed as a committee that we’d like to go back to being supplied by Giordana and that I will keep a stock of common kit and sizes, then continue to order twice a year as we do now. However, as Bioracer some very specific kit which we can order in singles, such as speed suits, we are NOT closing our account with them, but will continue to order where it is specified and we meet the minimum order spend.
Therefore going forwards the plan is basically thus:
- Giordana kit ordered twice a year around Jan and August time, with stock kept for new members / those needing kit at short notice (as at least 10 of each item must be ordered)
- Bioracer ordered when specified and minimum met, perhaps once a year in something like May / June, which spreads things out for me managing kit orders
I have some Giordana kit samples arriving on the 30th-31st January if you would like to try on to check sizing. Once they arrive I’ll sort being at the rugby club so you can come and check, or if not you’re welcome to mine for a brew and a try on. Giordana offer a great range of kit types now for basic, racing and winter, so I’ve asked for a mix of the below…
Once we’ve sorted samples so we know where we’re up to, I will place our first order late February and get what people need + a stock. Below shows the basic prices to expect for some common items, both with the initial discount then what it will be after 12 months. You can see the rough saving against Bioracer’s equivalent items. I’ll have a chat with Ady and see how I can keep an up to date stock and full price list for all kit types on the club site.
Please note I’ve also been asked by a few about caps, and a stock of these will be included in our first order too, I need to confirm design colours but they should be £6.99 (or less with our initial discount).
