Here’s some more of the Follow the Dog trail at Cannock, just as the snow started to fall and those are antlers on Richard’s helmet! Complete with bells. Be patient, it takes a few minutes to buffer – I’ll try to make them shorter in future. Apologies to Kevin who I cut away from.

Great videos Richard and Nick – funny how we thought we were going fast and this makes it look like we're going at just faster than snail's pace! Will have to try harder next time.
Really enjoyed the trip – amazing how warm you can get when it's 6 degrees below freezing! Shame about Richard's antlers going limp though.
Good luck at Macc forest to those who are going!
sounds like this place got the thumbs up – did anyone get to try the downhill part?
We didn't get to it this time Andy, was starting to go dark by the time we left. Gives us a good excuse to go again though.
Thought you were supposed to be joining us on Sat, the hangover just too much was it?
i'd have needed stabilisers if i'd have met you on saturday, too many pints of 'social stimulant', i'm going down there on the tue 29th of dec if anyone wants a lift, i know its the macc race just before then so a few of you maybe burned out, but the offer is there.
Hey I did manage to ride the raised section twice, just fell off it the third time to see how Matt managed to do it! It was quite easy to do when you're not concentrating. Great place and it made a change to the usual jaunts, cheers Nick.
About the macc cyclocross thing, couldn't make it even if I wanted to, but good luck to you guys who do.
Have a great Christmas!
Hope you all had a good Christmas. Matthew and I managed to drag ourselves over to Macc for the Supacross on 29th. Cheared on by Rob Kilby / Jane Kew (I think – not as noisy as Rob)and Steve Thomas (no mistaking him – more noise than all the other spectators put together and helpful comments like "coming up to the quagmire") we braved the mud – and there was plenty of it!
We were soon lapped by some youngster who clearly thought this was a road race as he wizzed past us like we were stationary. In his wake was Nick Craig( 3 peaks winner and veteran high ranking cyclo crosser) several seconds down and looking resigned to second spot. Mathew and I had a race long battle for the prestigious half way marker competition which I though I had in the bag at about 2/3rds distance. Only to find the Hornby Rocket gaining on me again and trying to psyche me out with shouts of discouragment at some of the hairpins as he reduced my lead to a handful of seconds. But I just hung on long enough to cross the line in front.
Much respect to Kevan and Eleanor riding thses things every weekend for the league. I was smashed afterwards and it was only one hour – took me longer to hose off the bike and my gear than I was riding. Still, it was a good workout and we both enjoyed it – certainly more than the guy who stopped 20m after the start. Looking down at his bike to see his broken chain lying on the ground!
Thanks for the offer of a lift to Cannock Andy but I can't make it I'm afraid – have a good day, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. See you all Sat 2nd Jan at Delamere I hope – all the best for 2010.
Results are in already.
68th (Nick) and 69th (me). Out of 92 riders, and 3 laps down. Winner was Paul Oldham, with Nick Craig second, (well spotted Nick) 3rd place lost a lap on them.
Respect to both you guys for doing that. I was flirting with the idea, but after trying to ride out to the Boxing Day 10, and falling off, I was feelin a bit sore. I think I will stick to the knobblies for a bit..See you at Delamere.
Sorry to hear that you fell off Kev – stick to the mountainbike when it's frosty is my advice.
Good video along with the results of the cyclo cross at http://www.nwcca.org.uk/
The speed at the start and of those leaders later on is frightening. Nice shot, near the end, of Matthew taking the sharp left hander sideways with me on his tail.
