A good group met at Hartford and split into a longer and a shorter group. John Conboy led the longer group which I joined. We rode out of Weaverham via Acton Bridge and a succession of short poky hills up to Kingsley, then over to Delamere Forest, and up the Yeld to Primrose Hill and then on through Tarporley. I risked my summer bike which I was glad about on those hills. We had a new rider with us – Dane – a bit of a racing snake – he rode up everything without breathing but even he, when confronted with the sight of the Yeld up ahead, said “oh blimey” or something similar anyway. Eventually the fast riders got fed up of waiting for the rest of us and John Green sensibly suggested those of us who had mislaid our fast twitch muscles might do better forming our own group – which is what we did and we enjoyed the ride into the cafe at a more sensible space than the fast boys up ahead. Kev and I had to ride back early so I don’t know how everyone else got on. A nice ride through some new quiet lanes in good company and with reasonable weather – thanks John for leading.
