Well done Eleanor, getting the blog going again. Here is something from the other blogger!
The Sunday run to Rainow began very very cold and we were fortunate that the sun was out all day which brought the temperature up to just normal cold! The turnout was a bit down at 17 souls but there were several away in Majorca and it was the Cheshire Cat sportive as well.
Ian Smith took us on a route to Alderley Edge where the group split, some going to AJs‘ and ten heading for the hills.
We weren’t disappointed. Soon the Cheshire plain gave way to the Pennine foothills as we climbed from Adlington to Pott Shrigley. This was just the beginning as we then tackled the formidable Blaze Hill out of Bollington up to the Setter Dog Pub. At the pub some people thought it was all over but how wrong can you be? We crossed the main road and headed uphill once more for the final pull to Common Barn Tearooms.
Common Barn are puzzled as to why they don’t get many cyclists, we explained they were at the wrong end of the hill!
Following a leisurely lunch we headed for Langley on what Ian thought was a “contour” WRONG. Contours do not go uphill! This was explained to Ian who was unrepentant.
At this point I left the group to head for Stockport but I presume they managed to get back to Northwich before dark.
Great route Ian keep up the good work.
