Club Kit – Please Read

Bioracer increased their prices by an average of 14% for this year, due to an increase in costs and material prices. We discussed this at a committee meeting and agreed that whilst Bioracer are a great kit supplier in terms of kit quality and service, we also need as a club to offer cheaper kit; as many do not race and are happy to wear club colours at the weekend, without needing to spend a lot of money to do so.

As you’ll be aware, our previous kit supplier was Giordana, and they have recently made changes to how they manufacture, increased their kit range and also offered us 30% off kit for 2 orders (or essentially the next 12 months). We agreed as a committee that we’d like to go back to being supplied by Giordana and that I will keep a stock of common kit and sizes, then continue to order twice a year as we do now. However, as Bioracer some very specific kit which we can order in singles, such as speed suits, we are NOT closing our account with them, but will continue to order where it is specified and we meet the minimum order spend.

Therefore going forwards the plan is basically thus:

  • Giordana kit ordered twice a year around Jan and August time, with stock kept for new members / those needing kit at short notice (as at least 10 of each item must be ordered)
  • Bioracer ordered when specified and minimum met, perhaps once a year in something like May / June, which spreads things out for me managing kit orders

I have some Giordana kit samples arriving on the 30th-31st January if you would like to try on to check sizing. Once they arrive I’ll sort being at the rugby club so you can come and check, or if not you’re welcome to mine for a brew and a try on. Giordana offer a great range of kit types now for basic, racing and winter, so I’ve asked for a mix of the below…

Once we’ve sorted samples so we know where we’re up to, I will place our first order late February and get what people need + a stock. Below shows the basic prices to expect for some common items, both with the initial discount then what it will be after 12 months. You can see the rough saving against Bioracer’s equivalent items. I’ll have a chat with Ady and see how I can keep an up to date stock and full price list for all kit types on the club site.

Please note I’ve also been asked by a few about caps, and a stock of these will be included in our first order too, I need to confirm design colours but they should be £6.99 (or less with our initial discount).

Get in touch if you have any questions. I have placed our summer Bioracer kit order and should have it around late March time – I was waiting to post this til after to save confusion and to honour those wanting some Bioracer pieces.

For those going to Majorca…

Good news! As our Giordana suppliers are Yellow Limited, they also own http://www.pinarelloexperience.com/ for Majorca bike hire. As part of the deal to change suppliers, we also now receive 20% off, simply choose your bike on the website, and then at the checkout stage include the code ‘WEAVER 20%’ to claim the discount.

If you have already booked a Pinarello for this year, email brian@yellow-limited.com and with your booking details and he’ll credit you 20% of the cost back.

We are proud to announce that WVCC will be the organising club of the 2018 J-B @TLI_Cycling national RR Championship , to be held at Siddington on 12th August 2018

Advice required.
Just done a 1st proper run out in the converted TT bike. Most if the setup is OK but 2 things noticed.
1 - A real pull in the left shoulder making it very uncomfortable. Right shoulder fine. Do I widen the pad position on both pads or just the left one (making it less symmetrical)?
2 - Hamstrings are pulling when pedalling. Seat height comparable with Normal road position (No hamstring pain). Is this because it is a strange position I am not used to or saddle height?

Short ride still to Red House Farm, Dunham.

NOW SOLD - Track bike for sale

I bought this bike 18 months ago off the Fearon’s when I first dipped my toe into track cycling. I didnt want to spend too much at the time in case I didnt get on with it, as you all know, I do get on with it, so its time to upgrade 👍🚴😃

8.5 kg total
Lightweight frame perfect for beginners and experienced riders. Very good condition. Mostly used indoors on velodrome.
Parts:
Similar to Dolan Precursor aluminium track frame (no transfers). Alpina carbon fiber forks with drill out for front break. Chrome token chainset, stem and bars. Ambrosio alloy wheels with veloflex tyres. Selle italia saddle(very small scuff). KMC hollow pin, hollow link chain. No pedals.

I am 179cm (5’10.5”) tall, so perfect for someone around the same height give or take a bit.

If you are a regular at the WVCC track night, you will be paying about £19 a time to hire a bike and shoes, so you will soon recover your money. You may also decide to get your accreditation and ride SQT’s, in which case its a no brainer.
