I really enjoyed this one, a longer circuit than the Lower Withington race and a few more hills but nothing too scary. Alan won his race, Nick and Kevan ended up in the break on their race and came in 8th and 9th so did really well, and other WVCC racers strutting their stuff were Andy Newby, Ewart, Graham, Dave Astles and Mark Thomson. I ended up in a chasing group of nine in my race and we did through and off for the second and third lap – it was good to be organised for once, as the other TLI races have mostly involved large bunches and no-one working together. Then I displayed a complete lack of tactical judgement by being at the front at the bottom of the hill before the finishing straight – but at least Mark said he appreciated my lead out (I was Greipel and he was Mark Cavendish) and he ended up winning our bunch sprint!
