Today saw a clear and warm day for the annual Ron Sant Audax. The HQ had many an eager Audaxer and club-runner ready for the day ahead – especially as there was a hot brew and toast and jam there for all starters. πŸ™‚

Brevet cards in hand for the Audaxers, we all set off and negotiated the hills out through Kingsley and Overton, where a quicker group carried on and left a small group to meander along at a ‘civilised’ pace(!)

Information controls came and went early on, with us eagerly jotting down the necessary answers, before continuing on familiar roads all the way to the Mills.

The Mills was packed, but we were all nice and early, so had plenty of time to sit, eat, drink and relax – as well as get our cards stamped. Not in a bad way of course, that’s for the fridge of shame. πŸ™‚

Off again, we headed out back through Saughall and then picked up many lanes that we rarely ride on. This was a great and varied route which made for a fantastic ride back towards Dodleston, then onto Holt. On the way, we grabbed another couple of information controls for our cards.

We landed at Old Ma’s near Tattenhall for another relaxing brew and more cake, where we all looked as though we were having a good time.

We are having a good time...

We are having a good time…

Then it was on to the last leg of the 108.6 km course and back for yet more tea and cake at the finish.

All in all, an excellent day, and well organised by our very own King of Audax, Derek.

Cheers Derek, we all really did have a good time.
