Where – Pimbo When – Sunday Who rode – Laura Gray, Emily Martin, John Keen, Patrick Lucas, Mat Buckley and myself, yours truly (Tony).
Weather conditions – Hot and sunny.
Yes on Sunday at Pimbodrome! Weaver Valley had a great turnout, and in the Women’s cat 3/4 (32 miles) road race which was won by Rosie Walsh of boompods, Laura and Emily showed just why both are making great strides this season with both finishing 9th and 16th respectively. I feel there’s more to come from these pair.
In the Men’s cat 3/4 road race (40miles) which was won by Peter Bracken of Liverpool Braveheart John Keen, Mat Buckley, and Patrick Lucas were ever present at the front! I my self being in my second race of the year wanted to take it easy at the back at 30mph plus with work commitments on my van I decided to ride out to Pimbo do my race and ride back – 110 miles in total with a 40 mile race in between. I was happy to finish 40th out of 80. Patrick Lucas was the top Men’s Weaver valley racer finishing 34th with John keen at 49th and Mat Buckley not to far behind. Only 50 out of 80 finished, so it was definitely a hot day.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of Weaver valley CC to thank the organisers, Marshals, Bike Marshals, signing on girls and any one else who I may have missed on a great day of racing.
PS: I got home at 6pm and realised even with taking on food and water at various points, I’d still lost 8lbs, so by 7pm I’d had Doner meat and chips, a Mexico pizza and three cans of cider. Tell you now it was worth it!
