Some people would say that racing on no training and with less than zero percent fitness is a silly thing to do. I would entirely agree with them but my reasoning on taking the plunge so soon is that I really enjoy the track league, it gives me a good focus over the winter and there is no better training than racing. Let’s face it there are few things better than being bent over in pain on a Friday night. As I haven’t ridden for so long I was put in group 1 (the slowest group) and on this first time out (and no doubt for several more to come) I was always going to get a sound thrashing, the question was just, ‘by how much’…
19 riders signed on in my group tonight.
In brief:
Race 1. 1km Scratch – 5th place
Race 2. 16 lap Scratch – 7th place
Race 3. Devil – 4th place
Race 4. Unknown distance – 6th place
Race 5. 20 laps points – my legs had gone by this point and I came nowhere.
Not as bad as it could have been!
First week out of the way, lungs currently being coughed up!!
