The day before the Dave Astles memorial ride in much worse weather, 5 of us travelled down to Church Stretton for a superb day riding the tracks and trails of the Long Mynd. Alan K, Tim, Matthew, Steve M and I ignored the weather man and had a brilliant time. Although it was very wet, it was surprising how little mud there was, and it was never long before the next flooded stretch cleaned everything off again.

We had a quick coffee stop at the Station Inn Marshbrook where there is camping and a good bike shop. Steve’s brakes were down to the metal so he took the flat way back while the rest of us did two more traverses of the Mynd. A superb singletrack switchback before climbing back over and finishing with the rocky Carding Mill Valley descent.
