Well I must admit that was a new experience for me and one I hope I never encounter again. I felt something hit me just below the eye, no idea what, but it felt like a stone. I realised I'd been stung but as we were only about half-a-mile from the cafe I thought I'd sort it there. However, things got gradually worse. I was having difficulty breathing, chest pains, a sickly feeling and the inability to speak. It was so weird as this condition took over, It was as if I couldn't control anything. It was so comforting though that I was being looked after by some beautiful people, especially Alan S, Terry, and Derek. A special thanks too to Simon who rode off and returned with some medication. I got checked out in Macclesfield hospital and as it happens, began to recover minute by minute. Surprisingly, I left the hospital at about 1.30 and returned to the cafe in a taxi, had some beans on toast and rode home with the kind hearted Derek who had ridden to the hospital to support me. I'm OK now except for a wicked swelling beneath me right eye, so many thanks to everyone for your concern, it really is a good feeling to know that WVCC is more than just a bunch of cyclist.

Syd had a further reaction to his sting [facial swelling] which necessitated another trip to A&E in the small hours of Monday morning, more drugs and observation. 😮
A timely warning to us all, we have to beware of the effects of 'critters' getting their own back!

Syd seems to be improved although the Dr has advised that it will take time to get over the effects.

Get well soon man...we need you on the front on Wednesdays 😉
