Just come across this from 2011 in the BC website. Wonder if it's ever likely to be legally sanctioned?. Would make the job of marshalling road races a bit more pleasant, (perhaps we'd have to rely on the weather to supply the misery in future) and safer for riders to boot.

Yeah it is like a lollipop system and I believe it is getting good headway with the police and highways. I applied for us to trial it last year and to also go on a course for it but BC said it wasn't needed. So guess we'll wait and see.
