Congleton CC rider Karl Austin was killed last night doing a 10 on the A50. HGV is believed to have been involved.
Doesn't half put you off hearing these stories, too much of this happening at the moment 🙁
The section of A50 that Karl was killed in was the Etwall course, in Derbyshire.

Drivers don't realise how quick your going and cut in too soon.Thats what happened with me and the tractor...
The general standard of driving is getting worse and worse, with an "every man for himself" attitude. There seems to be no highway code any more, and hgv drivers are the worst of the lot... "mirror, signal, manouevre" ? I think not. More like "signal, manouevre and get out of my way"....
I think penalties should be increased massively for accidents involving cyclists. Either that, or put spikes on steering wheels instead of airbags...
