Hi all, i've just joined the forum as I am looking to join a cycling club and as I live in Winsford WVCC seems like a very good option.

I enjoy road, mtb and even a bit of track cycling and am looking to improve my fitness and performance. My job does not allow me to be available on a regular weekly basis though and I end up training solo mid week a lot of the time which is why I have not been a club member.

What is the normal routine for taking part in a club run etc?

Cheers

Dave C

Just turn up on a Sunday morning at Hartford British legion opp The Grange school. Usually a short and long run meet at 0930. I've only been a member for 6 weeks and it's the best thing I have done. Great bunch of people that will make you feel very welcome.

Hi Dave,
there's also a good size group known as the wrinklies, but not exclusive to older riders, going out on a Wed - I've been going for a few months now, and each week there's a dozen upwards unless the weather is grim.
We meet at Hatchmere crossroads (nr Delamere) at 10:00 AM and include a cafe stop getting back mid afternoon. Route is decided on the day based on weather and who turns up, most times I've done 55 to 65 miles including getting to Hatchmere from Winsford.
Maybe see you tomorrow if your work pattern permits

I'll try and get out on a ride as soon as work permits. I've seen the club jersey's a few times during ice cream pit-stops at Cheshire Ice Cream Farm. Always a good place to recharge 😉

And there's an active MTB section too. Generally one jaunt to Delamere forest first Saturday of the month, (10 am at the Station Cafe) and a further afield trip in the middle Saturday.

Oh yeah, and winter track sessions at Manchester, so it sounds like you'll be well catered for.
