So if you take the 26th, 27th and 28th April as holidays, you get an 11 day break from work thanks to the bank holidays.
So my question is, are we going to plan anything for this time? Maybe a club excursion? Maybe around Scotland? Maybe around Wales?
Think it's worth some thought.
HI Kris, Good thinking, If you ask the wrinkles to add those days, they will have from 1st.January to 31st.December 2011 off, as most of them don't work. If they don't arrange anything no one will. Les Charnley ( retired cycle trip Organizer).
So, options:
3 days around the scottish highlands
3 days around the south wales penninsulas (Gower, etc)
3 days around Normandy?
Coast to Coast from Southport to Hull? (I don't know, I'm just making stuff up here :))
I thought 3 days as any longer might get difficult to organise.
The Transpennine Way, (Southport to Hull as you put it) is primarily on Sustrans routes. Probably not best tackled on a purely road bike, a CX or fast hybrid probably your best bet.
There's a newish coast to coast that looks good starting at Walney in south Lakes with an option to finish in Whitby & the website is http://www.cyclingw2w.info/
I would love to do this one but it won't be at Easter - alternatively the Whitehaven to Sunderland C2C can be done mainly on road with a few cycle tracks - I did it on a decent road bike with no problems.
hope you get something organised, accomodation might be getting scarce over Easter
