I'm 46 next Feb, so technically qualified to ride 'variable' gears, although when quoting directly, that also makes me 'soft'!

I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five.
Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer?
We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!

..and I thought my comment about HD would be too cryptic........you passed the test. The only bit he got wrong was thinking that there was an age restriction to riding fixed.

forget the groupset, gears or fixed debate, I have just taken delivery of my new christmas pressy to myself [lets face it, no one else is going to get these] a pair of all carbon 50mm clinchers....bling...bling....bling... summer here we come.. well you need to look forward to something

I cant remember who said aging is directly proportional to the ammount we spend on making our bikes lighter...[ it would certainly be cheaper if I lost the 2 stone of extra body weight that I've got!] ah well..[/font:nrw3a1j3]

Oh good......two thirds of the old team back in action for 2012. All you need to do now Jim is get Les Jenks out of retirement and we can go for the National 100 team next year! P.S. I hope them carbon wheels take a fixed sprocket!

only if you take a welding rod to the free hub...now in the old days, you could use a fixed sprocket on a screw on hub and use a BB lock ring................[I'm with Henri on fixed though !][/font:nwxeae5e]
