Just booked James & myself on the 67 miler.......then I saw the youtube video! Better get some granny gears before March.

Come on let's have some more WVCC entries. Apparently the 67 & 100 milers can ride together for the first half of the event.

Top job! Quite a team we've got now!

We'll definitely have to have a team run to Mow Cop I reckon...!

When I ran the 67 miler a couple of years ago, I also did the course a couple of times prior to the event, which was fun (in a sick kind of way). Who would be up for a long day in the saddle actually doing the course pre-event?

Wouldn't be up for the full course, but would be up for a Saturday trip to Mow Cop bit of a climb then perhaps to garden centre for a brew?

Okay, I'll come up with some dates to see how this fits with those interested. We can either do a fairly short run to Mow Cop (for some punishment), then brew and back, or if enough interest, a long day meeting at the start (in Crewe) in cars, to do the 100 mile loop.

For this years "Cat" I did a part recce ride in early March and missed out starting from Crewe as you can link into the route near sandbach. You can then ride Mow Cop & Gunn Hill etc. the route then drops back down through Gawsworth (poss cafe) or you can head for AJ's at Henbury.

I also did one of the Peak District Audaxes in early March with plenty of hard climbing - see Audax section of forum.

On my recce ride I went too hard on the first section and didn't quite make the top section - best to take it steady on the bottom steep bit, ease back on the middle bit and not get carried away with people passing you so by the top very steep bit you have a chance. It's a bit of a lottery up there with people walking and riders all over the road, but the recce paid off and I climbed it ( the triple helped, but then my legs aren't as good as they used to be!)
Planning to enter and tempted to go for the 100 mile this time and get some good miles in over the winter and spring.

Andrew, I was thinking of doing the same distance myself with George. The T&Cs state riders must be over 16 - I've not done one of these events before. Do you know how thoroughly they police the age limit? George will be 15 at the time.

I'd appreciate some advice before I commit the dosh and then find George get's bumped at the start line.

Andy
I rode last year and saw a a young lad riding with dad/granddad and there was no way he was 16 - take a look at the link at last years photos - he's on the first page http://sportivephoto.thirdlight.com/viewdir.tlx?albumid=263439
I think they may have done the 45 mile route.

According to Woody you get your numbers and timing devices in the post and just pass through the start on the day so no real checks.

James will only be 14 so fingers crossed. Maybe put a balaclava on for the start!

Should be ok and would be good to have 2 more to join the team.

Andrew.
