Can anyone recommend a cycle insurer?
You get third party personal liability insurance with BC or CTC and you can usually get bike insurance along with your house insurance.
Thanks Claire
Thats where the problem started, i have purchased a new bike so phoned them to get a quote for cover out of the home, i was informed that they would not insure a bike to the value of my bike and as a result of me notifying them i have the bike, they will no longer insure me. I then had to change insurers at an additional cost of £25, and my bike is excluded!!!!!!!
Jim,
If you join BC you get a discount on bike insurance. But be warned it's not cheap I think to insure 5 bikes it was over £300 a year. But this covered me for everything.
Maybe worth looking into.
I read in Cycling Weekly the other week that B.C insurance doesnt cover you for racing or Time Trialling. Anyone know the ins and outs?
Cheers Guys
I have had a quote for 177, including TT, probably not that bad really then, i also have to have an approved lock, god knows how big that will be then!!!! the weight i will have saved on the bike will probaly be gained on the lock! 🙁
I got my own insurance because the BTC insurance was a bit basic.
Think I pay about £20 a month (full european cover) for racing, commuting and general use, and it covers me up to £3000.
Kris, who did you get the insurance with?
It's bc bike insurance (British cycling)
At some point I'll review the one you get as a member, to see if it's worth just using that.
