Don't worry Jim. Re-groups when required and at the top of all the long climbs 😎
The training ride is on a Saturday 😉
said might.
All,
For those that are coming on the long run. Please be at the club so we can leave as close to 0900 as possible. It's going to be around 85 miles with plenty of climbing.
To reiterate this is a club run. There will be regroups at the top of all the long climbs and if people are getting dropped.
See you Sunday and weather looks OK 🙂

Hi Jules,
You're assuming that everybody who is intending to ride the long run on Sunday will read this message plus it may not suit everybody to get to the Legion for a 9am start. I know that many members don't often look at the forum.
Both runs should leave at 10am as always and if a group want to leave earlier then this is not the official long run.
Thanks
Dave

Sorry Dave,
But it's been in the calendar for a while. And we have all talked about it on the long run over the past few weeks.
The ride leaves at 0900
Sorry my mistake I didn't see that as it's unusual to start that early. 😳 It's just that I'd hate for somebody to be disappointed if they turned up for 10am and everybody had left one hour earlier.

No probs Dave.
We have done all we can to advertise the fact its an earlier start. Hopefully most have heard one way or another 🙂
I can't find the blog section (I think Ady's working on the site) so will post here. A fab run with 20ish riders turning up at 9 this morning and a good weather forecast for once. We all rode well together through Waverton and Chester, after Chester we organised a co-ordinated natural break which ended up with Carol and me getting so much mud on the soles of our boots that we couldn't then clip in. Relieving ourselves behind a hedge with no greenery and a housing estate on the edge of the field felt a bit exposed! There, I thought you'd appreciate me raising the tone of this forum.
We then rode up through Higher Kinnerton when I suffered a terminal mechanical - broken spoke on a wheel with very few spokes - so Kev did the gentlemanly thing and gave up on the ride, heading for the shop where Titch works in Chester, where Titch and colleague failed to come up with a fix, so Kev ended up ringing our youngest who rescued him in the car. The rest of us (with Jules rather touchingly saying "don't worry El, we'll look after you") set off up the Treuddyn hill. Carol and I did a great job between us, with Carol doing 90% of the work and me making myself feel better by doing 10% -but we kept up a good pace. The win went to one of Dane and Paul I think? We all waited for the group to collect at the top, and so down the fabulous descent that is the Nant-y-Garth pass where for one brief and glorious moment, and thanks to a lead out from Dane, I found myself on the front.
The craft centre was full so we headed for the cafe down at the bridge which is a cheap beans on toast sort of place, perfect for us. We stopped long enough to get cold, then headed up to the motel on the Loggerheads road, where we all re-grouped. Then on along the normal route that we use back from Llanberis, with increasingly tired legs, but helped by a tailwind....back through Chester, and through the Forest where the group for once took such a relaxed approach that at the end I managed to nip out for the sprint to the sign, ably assisted by Paul, but Dane shot past me like an exocet missile - the others didn't respond as their conversation was clearly too gripping to interrupt.
...and so home. "Gentleman of the day" award goes to Vince for helping with every mechanical and puncture (there were a few) and bringing back dropped riders. "Gentlewoman of the day" award to Carol for helping me up the Treuddyn hill and also keeping an eye on dropped riders and bringing them back to the group. Jules did a great job of leading, keeping us all together in fine style and working hard on the front. This was a fantastic ride, great prep for Llanberis with 90 miles and lots of climbing in our legs, great views over the Welsh hills, and mostly clear skies and even some sunshine. And great company and craic from (here goes): Jules, Jeff, Stu, Dane, two Pauls, two Howards, Carol, Heather, Jamie, Jim, Ewart, Chris G, Phil, Vince, Keith. (Sorry if I've forgotten anyone - and Jeff, I'm sorry I kept calling you Bruce, you don't look unlike him but still no excuse!). Kev gets a half tick. Also appearing at the cafe was Jacob and Kris who had done a monster ride all on their own. Well what a day!!! Just about managed to get of my bike before I collapsed through door into my hallway completely spent! Hardest day on the bike I've done for a while 😮
The views were stunning, conversation was great and so was the company. Thanks guys and gals!
Thanks for the compliment Eleanor but I'm pretty sure you did more than 10%!!! I dropped back to help Heather but her dad and Vince assisted too!!
I can't make the next 2 Sundays so I'll get a few miles in on my own and see you all on the Saturday for Llanberris! 😮 😯 😎
