Well it is forecast to be cloudy on Sunday, so why don't we head up into the Cloud? I did this route last year which was well received, for those that didn't - it is a 20 mile flat route to Congleton and just before the Cloud we will pass the cafe.
Those who want to stop and get an early beans on toast can. For those that continue, we re-group at least 4 times (firstly after the climb out of Congleton, the climb up to the top of the cloud, after the decent and then at the train station in Congleton before the cafe). It is a long route to the cafe (covering around 35m before the stop) but it's only 20m home.
Why do we persist in using Congleton Garden Centre when they dislike us so much, is there an S&M section in the club
Well everyone says Astbury is dead expensive and I don't know another cafe in Congleton 🙁
Astbury is expensive, but a short ride up the road is the garden centre in Macclesfield, good prices, plenty of room and they like cyclists. But I can see the logic of you have some who don't want to ride the Cloud.
Wo ist Macclesfield Garden Centre?
About 2 miles south of Macc, just off the A523.
Just done a quick Google Map. There could be 2 potentially incredible routes, beautiful scenery and a right adventure but I'd be concerned in catering for all abilities both with the terrain (ie amount of climbing with a reece first) and the second there is quite a lot of "A" road which then leads to complaints about the amount of traffic.
I could also play it safe and go straight down on the A road and turn off on Old Leek Road but again seems a busy piece of road so not sure. ❓
Congleton Garden centre have pretty much told us were not welcome. Our well earned money can be spent where we are welcome.
You need some GPS in your life, then the back lanes become your friend 😉
ok if i join you on this run . i did a couple of club runs 18 months ago but then had a bit of time not riding so much. did 50 hilly miles last monday (cat + fiddle/axe edge /gradbach) so should be ok with this ride. tim.
