I thought it might be fun to add a little competition into the training weekend [a quote from a Mr Kemp -"remember it's not the Olympic Road Race "] so its like this,, the most inventive excuse for having a bad time on the way out will win a Cream Egg.

You are unlikley to win with , "I was lacking in miles", "I punctured", "I had a mechanical" [unless it's really bizarre!]

I will start proceeding by announcing that I am on antibiotics for a HUGE blood blister on the 2nd toe on my left foot that gone septic!! so when I get blown out the back on the climbs, it has notihing to do with my weight and plenty to do with my MY LEFT FOOT! if I bore on Sat night just tap me on the shoulder!

I only get going after a 100 mile warm up - it just isn't far enough to get the legs moving efficiently.

Or

The verbal picture Jim W created of his toe has made me violently sick and given me nightmares, causing sleep deprivation. The combination of these has left me very weak. I will be lucky if I can do my turn on the front as far as Post Office Lane

Unfortunately due to geographical obsticles, and having recently been attacked by a large bunch of angry Kangaroos, which has hindered my past weeks training, I will be unable to attend this weekends Llanberis annual training event. I look forward to receiving said Cadbury's Creme Egg of which I have fond memories of from my childhood! Oh,when posting don't declare it's food, they're a bit funny about foodstuffs at customs. 😉

Gina and I have just waived off the huge group of Weaver Valley cyclists on their way to Llanberis. It is pretty chilly out there, so respect to each and every one. Safe trip! 🙂

The view from the hotel this morning was snow! Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne is cancelled, but the intrepid riders coming back from Llanberis have to ride home! Safe trip all riders, and fingers crossed for no icy patches on the road! I hope there is a warm fire and a roast dinner waiting for you at home! 🙂

Thanks Claire, it did snow a bit last night but the roads were OK this morning so we managed to get back.

Well the weekend is over, great weekend it was to, and getting better by the hour [as my legs hurt less and less]
Anyway the judging for the best excuse for hardship on the first day is over.
Being accused of sexism prevents me from awarding it to Eleanor, [even though it was a good excuse!]
Restrictive customs regulations prevents me from awarding it to Max for his geographical excuse [you can have a complimentory egg, buy it in Oz and submit the bill to the Australia branch of the WVCC, they'll pay it!]
Despite saying that having a mechanical was unlikely to win you the prize, Syd tried really hard with 4 [yes 4!!] punctures caused by the 'Mythical Thorn of Truth' that escaped after capture and lives to puncture again.

So the winner and recipient of the first EGG is .......Derek Heine.. for his 'it's too short' and the visualisation of my left foot

Another great Pedal Power page in the Northwich Guardian today, March 6th. An article about the club trip to Llanberis, and a mention of the dates of the two March club runs for new riders on 10th and 24th March. Thank you Gina Bebbinton for being such a good friend to the club! 🙂
