This was the team – KevU, KevC, me, Tim and Jules ready for the start of this demanding 22mile ride on tracks around the Ceriog Valley in the Welsh Borderlands. Tim and KevU shot off and Tim would have been quickest overall if he hadn’t had a puncture and another mechanical. It is quite a punishing route, as Kev U found out with a forward dismount of one of the rocky descents. He still managed to complete the course to be quickest WVCC rider with Tim finishing strongly after repairing his bike, KevC enjoying it more than last year – it helps when you know what’s coming up – and Jules pushing home with a puncture in the last mile. There should be some pictures at http://www.borderlandbikechallenge.co.uk/ soon.

I decided to have a ride up the Wayfarer track into the Berwyn Hills and got this spectacular view across to Snowdonia from near the summit. You can just see the continuation of the Wayfarer track which takes you over to Llandrillo. There’s a great return route over the tops which we did a few years ago – must get back there.
