Well i cannot let the day finish without just a few words about our very autumnel autumn road race today . The Weaver Valley Autumn road race .

A beautiful day following a beautiful sunrise as i did a final check on the circuit this morning . I even saw a fox just finishing his night foraging shift.

Opening up HQ not a minute before 08.00 fearing setting the alarm off the place was soon a hive of activity . Marshals, drivers , Bc officials ,BC accredited marshals, National Escort Group riders , 1st Aiders , riders signing on , teas and coffees being consumed ,, riders looking serious in the car park, warming up for their last chance of the season to gain points for upgrading to a higher category .

About 7 places in the main field were not taken which did disappoint me after the massive entry we had though many sent apologies for sickness etc ,.but so pleased for those that did ride as im sure they had a good day !

I would have loved to have ridden today!

Briefings over , the race on and so time to give the race a head start before getting around the circuit, checking the marshals are ok and handing over refreshments then on to the finish line . A scare to find a vehicle parked right on the finish line with the owner no where in sight.

Although Lucy and I saw very little of the race we did see enough to know that a rider from CC London, Tom Whalley attacked on the first lap and stayed away only to be caught half a lap from the finish line .

The race was won from a fantastic bunch sprint , the clear winner being Dave Williams from the Wrexham RC .

Chief commissaire has asked me to pass on his thanks to all involved today ” for a job well done “.
