10 Mile Championship – 3rd July 2019

Fantastic turn-out for the 10 champs last night and probably one of our best ever in terms of number of riders and times recorded.  Conditions were perfect and as a result we had a lot of PB’s and some very close placings.

Second claim member and local Pro Matt Nowell posted a sizzling 21:03 but the amateurs significantly reduced the gap from previous events, with Dave Walker and Sam Taylor both posting sub 22 rides with 21:20 & 21:38 respectively.  So congrats to both for Gold and Silver in the champs.  The bronze medal was a very close affair with Titch coming out on top with a PB of 23:17, narrowly beating Stu Ward by just 2 seconds.

Fastest lady was Lynsey Astles with yet another club event PB of 26:43.  Louise Stock also improved with a 28:01.

Please make a note in your diary for the next club championship which is the 100 on 14th July.  Entries have now closed for this event but riders still need support so any volunteers would be gratefully accepted.  I’m taking care of Emily but Titch (Paul Longley), is struggling for help right now and also Sam so if you can help them please get in touch.

The 50 champs is on 3rd August and this is incorporated into the Manchester & District TT Association & Manchester Ladies 50 champs.  You will need to enter this in advance by 23rd July so get on the CTT website and put in your entry.  50 miles is not as far as it sounds and is well within the capabilities of any club cyclist so have a go.

Next week we return to the Guardian Cup / Scratch Cup competition so looking forward to watching you improve even further.

Thanks

Dave
