Ady Japp stepped up to lead this Sunday’s short run to Two Mills, with scorching weather on the cards with a sprinkling of a couple of hills along the way it was all set to be a good day out on the bike.

18 of us head out on the short run. Ady lead us through Acton Bridge, Kingsley before climb up into Frodsham. The climb up to Overton hill never gets any easier but the view was well worth it.

After a run down the cycleway at Chester, dodging dogs and kids on bikes a like we eventually wound up for the sprint into Two Mills which was taken by Ady.

We took the pathway around the back of Chester Zoo on the way home which lead us to the traditional dash through Delemere Forest. Ady had a little dig early on which was swept but by Dave Daynes who continued on the front. With Dave not sure whether to commit and wavering in the middle of the road, Wood, in the spirit of de Gendt, took up the challenge. Driving the bunch along through the forest until in the last 100 hundred metres was decended upon by pretty much the whole group. A fierce battle was fought out with what I believe to be Dave Daynes picking up with win followed by Garry Brown. Good news for Wrinklies fans out there, with Dave Daynes and Terry Veal both following in the top 5, they took the newly instated (and Tour Series inspired) Team prize.

As several members peeled off we continued into Acton Bridge. It was here that the final sprint of the day took place. A welcome return from Andy Risk saw him set the pace into Acton Bridge with Titch first smelling signs of a battle he hopped onto his wheel, closely followed by Wood. As the road started to head up to the railway bridge, Titch went to the front, Wood still on his wheel. Half way up the hill Wood pounced out of the saddle to take the hill top finish but he wasn’t prepared for Titch to come around him to beat him by an inch on the line. Not bad for someone with a broken spoke as well!

Great day in the saddle, top route from Ady, nice easy pace which kept everyone together and most of all top weather!
