Risk Assessment Review
We have updated some of our control measures in the RA under New Riders and Group Rides from the root causes of last years Incidents and Near Miss Reports.
Specifically
i) all new riders to the Saturday training ride will be asked to join the 0901 ride at first to become familiar with the route and ensure they have a level of fitness that doesn’t result in excess fatigue.
ii) all club rides should have a maximum of 16 in total. If more than this then the group should be split.
iii) any poor riding discipline in group rides will be advised to the offender(s) for rectification going forward.

Sunday Club Rides
We have recognised that some of the shorter rides in the last few months have been in excess of the advertised speed. This tends to happen when we ride as one group and there is a wide range of capabilities. We will reinforce with all Short ride leaders that this ride must go at the speed advertised and this should be communicated at the start of the ride. The shorter ride destinations up until the end of May are now on the web site Calendar.
We will also introduce an ‘early bird’ ride starting at 0830 on Sunday mornings for those that want to be home at an earlier time and want to go fast as a result. The intention is to offer this alternative after Llanberis weekend and will communicate more nearer the time.
Club Vision
We want to attract new members and appeal to younger riders.A separate meeting will be held in April made up of a body of people that ensures we have representation across our age range and types of rides.The purpose is to formulate a clear vision of what we want to achieve and therefore shape our decisions , actions and activities going forward. Again a separate communication will be sent out nearer the date to invite ideas, suggestions and indeed participation if requested.
Promotions and Discounts offered to Club members
I have been approached by two Companies recently offering discounts to club members. I will forward these on by email in due course to ensure the discounts are only open to club members.
